Trip to the zoo & Art\Craft centre

Mum & I just before we set off back to Accra

AT THE ZOO

We found the standard of the zoo at Kumasi not very good and felt sorry for the animals there as the conditions which they were being kept was not great.  The zoo has pottential to be a decent tourist spot in Kumasi but needs investment and effort put into it's environment and more importantly the standard of care given to the animals.

AT THE CRAFT CENTRE

Lamour at the art centre under a calabash tree.  The clabash is used for things such as musical instruments
The Calabash is made hollow and used for making bowls and for storing things such as shea butter.  Grandma and Lamour under the calabash tree.

Trip Advisory!!! Welly Boots

Who would have thought you needed welly boots in Ghana.   My faithful charle woteas was no match for the mud slip that befell us at the kwamasi zoo, when a brief rain shower passed through and mudded the path!!

This an after picture after it has been cleaned.  The slippers were originally engulfed in mud!!

Whilst in Kwamasi- The compound

Some pictures with our little friends in our compound, hanging clothes.  We later met up to play some hopscotch (as we would call it).  Grandma couldn't resist !

BELOW: Our favorite Captain Atta!. A family member whose diligence, faithfulness self sacrifice to be our driver and tour guide for all our visits has been so inspirational and exemplary!.  We thank God for all his efforts! Caring Humble person!

Kumasi Trip- Legacy of a Faithful Grandmother

On our second week in Ghana we travelled to Kumasi to attend funeral celebration of our good friend Pastor Richard Nornoo's Grand mother.  Funerals are a big affair in the Asante tradition.  Pastor Richard said that at the early morning ceremony he had to greet at least 1000 guests formally as part of the protocol.  What was really nice was the legacy which Pastor Richards Grandmother has left.  She was a women of faith who encouraged and inspired her family to serve God.  There are now a number of family members who are in the ministry of the Lord and many who are faithfully serving the Lord.

Scenary on route!...Lush Green Fertile!
Kwamasi! the Ashanti region.  Very rich history!  Very interesting. Will hopefully write up a bit more about it  on later post!

 Entering the market place.....

 Look what I spotted......

.........A MASSIVE BILLBOARD!
AMEN!AMEN!AMEN!.....
All over Ghana there are so many religious billboards.. advertising churches, etc.  You wouldnt get that in England!

Ansah family, Grandma Dee Dee, Atta (our faithful Driver) and the Aunties who hosted us whilst we we stayed in Kumasi. We were made very welcome.  We have really been learnng from the exampleship hospitality from the people who have been taking care of us in Ghana.

TT, holding the  huge snail Clare found crawling around whilst we were visiting Kumasi Zoo.  The snail was blessed that we were the ones that found him, as snails like him are a common ingredient with soup and fufu!! No Thanks!
